'Find your love' is a song by canadian artist, Drake. and was produced by Kanye west and Jeff bhasker. The director of the music video was Anthony Mandler. The genre of the song is a hip hop hybrid with an influence of reggae. Some of the broad charateristics of that genre which are embeded in the video are that firstly, its shot in kingston, jamaica. Also there is alot of gang activities in the video which shows the chracteristics of the hip hop culture.
There is a strong relationship between the lyrics and visuals in the song. During the corus, there is alot of repetition of lyrics, such as "I better find your loving, i better find your heart". This underlines how hard the protagonist is seeking for her, and would go to extreme lengths to be with her. Also the visuals in the Video amplify this concept. As the above image shows, he is bowing down to kiss her hand. This direct action may signify the weakness in him and how powerless is his from keeping away from her.
Drake also quotes " i bet if i give all my love then nothings gonna tare us apart", which futher amplifies his actions.
However there could be a twist in the final scene of the music video which could infact contradict the lyrics as in the end it gets him in to trouble, thus "taring them apart". The clip ends with the girl, portrayed by Michel, seemingly with no regrets, being the one to shoot Drake, the protagonst as the clip ends with the sound of a gunshot. But since the screen goes black seconds before, one can't help but wonder: did she shoot Drake, the protagonist (as it looked she was about to) or Mavado, the antagonist ( the gang leader which she had a relationship with).
There is relationship between the music and the visuals of the song. During the course of the music video, straight cuts are used continuously, whether the beat is slow or fast. However there are parts in which the video cuts precisely with the beat, for example in the 1:15 - 1:17. This kicks into great effect from 3:58 minutes were the tension is building as the video cuts to a whipping sound. The sound could foreshadow the pain which will be inflicted on someone. various camera angles and shots are used continuously throughout the music video. For example, on 1.31 seconds, the usage of depth of field blurs everything else out and focuses only on drake, capturing the audiences attention. Also on 1.17 seconds, depth of field is used when drake looks from a far to see michel dancing with mavado. straight after on 1.19 seconds, drake is pre poositoned as it shows how feels like the bit on the side. The video also changes with the pace of the music. For example, when its the scene were drake is in a dialogue with the jamaican sage who advices him of what to do with this girl, the setting is more calm, its an open space and there near the beach. All you can hear are natural sounds such as the wind blowing and the sea crashing against the shore which slows down with the pace of the video.
The record company is looking to sell this track by using a narative including love, romance and relationship problems. This would appeal to a specific target audience who can relate to the situation that drake is in. Drake is portrayed as an innocent man, who deeply cares for this woman and would do anything to have something special with her. You could also say that the image of Drake in this track is that of a strong willed, determined and hard headed as he didnt take the advice given to him as he would rather persue is desire. This video doesn't really relate to Drake's other video's, as it rather represents a change of image. For example, In Birdman song featuring Drake and Lil Wayne, Drake's image is that of a typical rap artist, with money, jewellery and women the main motive. As you can see from the image bellow, Drake is distracted by the money in his hand, whereas the two women on either side of him a mere objects. By having a change of direction and image, this will allow drake to become more versitile entertainer and help targe a wider audience.
In the music video 'Find your love', there is a reference to the notion of looking as there a clips in which the girl 'michel' is sexually displayed. The purple bikini she is wearing, the mid shots of her body, in particular the lower half and the positions in which she is posing all imply sexualized display. These features are usually used to show how woman looks from a mans point of view, as this could also imply in this case. Michel is shown through Drake's eyes in a sense as she is his desire, which could explain the sexuality in these clips.
In conclusion, this music video is prodominantly narrative - based, with the occasional performance. Firstly, the music video begins with the phrase "The worst thing about crossing a line is when you don't know, and you already have". This foreshadows that someone is on a collision course with disaster and something terrible is going to occur. Although Drake is warned by a jamaican sage at the beginning of the video, he refuses to be threatened and leave without attempting a relationship with Michel one last time. while the story continues throughout the music video, such as when gang members spot drake with michel ( 2.05 seconds) and they tell movado (2.50), by having scenes were it shows Drake recording the song reminds the audience that this is still a song rather than a short movie (example 2.17 seconds).

"Just the way you are" is a song by American singer-songwriter, Bruno mars, and the lead single from his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans. The song was written by The Smeezingtons, Khalil Walton, and Needlz and produced by The Smeezingtons, and Needlz. The music video, directed by Ethan Lader, was released on September 8, 2010 and features actress Nathalie Kelley. The genre of the song is R&B. Some of the characteristics which are associated and embeded in this music video is that the mise en scene is quite comfortable, cosy and light. Also the couple in the video look very emotionally attached, which lightens the mood.
During the course of the song, the visuals pretty much run parallel with the lyrics. For example, between the seconds of 1.26 -1.37, Bruno mars sings " And when you smile, The whole world stops and stares for a while, Cause girl you're amazing, Just the way you are", Whilsts the visuals show him drawing her how he likes her, even though she tries to change what he drew. This shows that the lyrics are amplified by the visuals.
All the way through the song, Bruno mars lavishes praise on this girl which he is in love with. For example he keeps repeating " Girl your amazing, just the way you are". The use of repetition illustrates his how he feels as the visuals also show him smiling as she reacts to what he has to say.
There is a strong relationship between the music and the visuals of the song. firstly, when the drum bass kicks in (0.28 seconds), a drum is pictured which is being flicked to the beat by bruno mars. similarly, on 2.02 minutes of the video playing, a piano is drawn whilst its used at that moment. This illustrates the solo instruments being used in the video. There are occasional cuts to the video, but there not very quick. this could be due to the fact that bruno mars and nathalie Kelly are gazing into eachothers's eyes throughout, hence slowing down the cuts to capture the emotion. Nathalie Kelly is also postioned central to the camera on a few occasions (3.17 minutes) to illustrate how important she is to bruno mars. Depth of field is also used on 2.50 minutes where the focus changes from the narrative to bruno mars's performance on the coffee table. though its jus a drawing of bruno mars, its the concept of him performing which reminds the audience that this is a music video.
There isn't much reference to the notion of looking in this music video. However, the costume which nathalie Kelley is wearing and the camera work could imply sexualized display. On 1.41 minutes into the video, she stands up to sit closer to bruno mars, whilst the camera is placed in a position were it captures the lower half of nathalie as she walks towards bruno mars, and bruno mars looking at her. Also on 3.18 minutes, there is a mid shot used were she is centrally placed and it looks as though the camera is looking at her through bruno mars's eyes, which could imply voyerism.
In conclusion, this music video is prodominantly narrative - based, with the occasional performance. Firstly, the music video begins with Nathalie Kelley listening to a tap of the song "just the way you are", after bruno mars takes the tap apart, in order to express his love for her through music, this literally being the tape. throughout the music video, the protagonist continues to sing in dialogue to Nathalie Kelley. However, there are moments in which he is on the piano. The purpose of this shot is to remind the audience that its a song, not just narrative.

For some reason i cant find the music video with the embeded code.. strange going ons i tell you ! but anyways this is the analysis of justin timberlake ft t.i - my love
"My Love" is a song by American singer–songwriter Justin Timberlake from his second studio album, Futuresex/lovesounds. The song was co-written by Timberlake, Timberland, Nate "Danja" Hills, and T.I., and produced by Timberlake, Timbaland, and Danja. The music video was directed by paul hunter. The genre of the song is a hybrid, with some elements of r&b, rap and pop. I personally believe that this is a great combination to have as they all bring something unique to a song.
I believe that the lyrics are contradicted by the visuals of the song. firstly, justin timberlake uses alot of repetition on lyrics such as "my love, aint another woman that can take your spot". you would expect there to be shots of a female (supposidly his partner) and the protagonist looking deep into eachothers eyes and them oozing passion. There' just a woman dancing round him like she a stripper, whilst he looks at her as a sex object (3.05 minutes). also he sings "if i told you you were beautiful, would you date me on the regular". This could leave u to believe that she is playing hard to get and he is doing all the chasing, however on 3.08 minutes, this completly contradicts those lyrics as the female is the one pulling him in by the tie.
There is a very strong relationship between the music and visuals of the song. Firstly, the music video begins with an intro song called "let me talk to you". During this time, in the background are faulty florecent light which, flickering in programmed pattern to match the musical instruments in the beat. i really like this effect as it put emphasis on the music. Also the video cuts to the beat on numerous occations. for example, on 2.42 seconds, the cuts become more rapid as justin timberlake sings faster on the corus.
you could say the image of the artist in this music video is that of a cool, current idividual who attracts women. This could appeal to the single young males. there are also motifs which are used in this music video that have been previously used in justin timberlakes music video's. for example), his style of custome is now part of his identity. also his dancing is now iconic to his image (1.57 minutes). Also in some of his previous work, for example "seniorita", there is chemistry between the woman and justin timberlake as their roles are equally played out, with there being a ginuwine attraction there. However in this video, the woman is portrayed as an object. for example, on 3.59 minutes of the video playing, the woman is licking the protagonist's face, with his direct attention on the camera.
There isn't much reference to the notion of looking in this music video. However, the costume which the woman is wearing and the camera work could imply sexualized display. for example, during t.i bit in the song, a woman wearing just bra and a very unmodest skirt throws herself around him in a sexual manner, sitting behind him with her legs open centrally placed. also on 4.42 minutes, there is a shot were t.i's head is positioned centrally with the womans rear view on show to the side of him, whilst a rubber band round t.i's wrist is also attached to her heel. this could imply some sexual fantesy .
in conclusion, this music video is mainly perfomance based. Justin timberlake is perfoming a dance throughout, for example on 5.27 minutes with the occasional singing into the camera. i personally think this works effectively as this keeps the audience engaged in the music video, along with the quick cuts.

"you remind me" is a song by american artist usher which was released in 2001. The song is about a man who meets a woman who seems like a nice catch, but he decides not to enter a relationship with her because she looks too much like an ex-girlfriend with whom he had a bad breakup. The genre of the is R&B. Iv decided to analyse this music video as it is one of the more memorable video's i had seen in my childhood and i believe it may have influenced my tastes and preferences of music.
In this music video, there is a strong relationship between the lyrics and visuals. From the beginning of the video, usher is following a girl which he is facinated with. Meanwhile he's singing " See the thing about you that caught my eye". following on he says "is the same thing that makes me change my mind", backing away as he thinks of the reason why it made him change his mind, amplifing the lyrics. Later in the music video, approximately at 1.20 minutes, usher sings "oh she, was sexing everyone but me", whilst physically showing the actions to further amplify his lyrics. he continues singing "this is why we could never be", again walking away from the girl to also amplify those lyrics.
Though the cuts are not nesseccarily quick throughout the music video, cuts are still made in time with the beat. for example, on 1.36 minutes, cuts are made as usher makes his way around the girl, changing everytime he gets into a new position. Alot more quicker cuts are however used when during his solo dance performance on 2.20 minutes, which is my favourite part of the music video. This is particularly effective and works great as it captures and enhances his dance moves, making it look more fluid and rapid.
The record company is looking to sell this track by using the concept of romance and relationship problems. In this video, Usher is attracted to a few girls, however the relationship doesn't get going as he is reminded of his ex. This shows how he is afraid to get into another relationship as he fears the worst, getting hurt again. this portrays him as sensitive and there could be an audience which could liken to his situation. in most of usher's video's, he his portrayed as quite sensitive and loving, for example in confessions, whereas he could lie about cheating on his girlfriend, he decides to tell her and goes on his knees to ask for forgiveness. Some of the motifs in this video have been previously used in his video's. for example, usher is well known for his incredible dance moves and til this day, he continues to display his performances. also the 'U' chain is an iconic symbol for usher which he wore is many of his video's. this helps the audience to familiarize themselves with an artist they see.
There is some reference to the notion of looking in this music video.on 3.08 minutes, there is a girl which is on the dance floor with the spot light shining on her, contrasting the surrounding people. this highlights were ushers attention is at and what his desire is. usher is drinking at the bar, obsessivly onlooking at this woman that is unaware of usher looking at her, however she is inviting his attention. this is commonly known as voyeurism.
In conclusion, this music video is narrative based aswell as performance. Firstly, the music video begins with usher stating "iv got something to tell ye, listen". this instantly creates an opening for a narrative. he continues to tell the story by singing to this girl, however by making direct eye contact with the camera at 0.28 seconds, it almost gives an edge to the story, like its mixed with the performance. usher maintains the narrative however has a complete performance based part in which he dances. I thought that was effective as it reminded me personally that not only was he telling a story, but was performing his song.
